Divorce Counseling and Coaching, Inc. (DCC) was designed in response to a series of interviews with 50 divorced and divorcing individuals. In talking about their experiences, commonalities emerged and some of the key findings were:

  • They didn't understand the divorce process (even those that had completed the process),
  • They expected their lawyer was going to do their thinking for them,
  • They reported that their emotions often interfered with their ability both to hear what their lawyer was saying and to attend to legal activities (even those that were seeing/saw therapists during their divorce).

DCC's services include:

  • Educating divorcing individuals about the process,
  • Developing strategies and managing their divorce as they would a business task,
  • Dispelling many of the myths about divorce thereby rightsizing expectations,
  • Preparing clients both emotionally and financially for the divorce process so they become effective contributors to the process rather than having their emotions get in the way.
  • Providing quality referrals to personally screened, experienced, efficient professionals.

The firm's extensive proprietary materials, some of which are listed below, cover topics as varied as

  • “Divorce - Myths and Realities”,
  • “Preparing for Divorce - The Business Piece and The Emotional Piece”,
  • “WIPER, A Five Step Process to Create Clearer Vision by Managing Your Emotions”,
  • “How to Navigate Social Situations”,
  • “How to Transition from Spouse to Co Parent”,
  • “Ten Tips for Talking to Your Children about Divorce”, and
  • “Overview of the Divorce Process”.
  • Legal Definitions

DCC helps their clients by–

  • Reducing the adverse emotional impact of divorce on individuals, their children and extended families,
  • Teaching them how to work cost effectively with their mediator, divorce attorney and other involved professionals
  • Developing a real plan of action and divorce timeline.
